parks james | one month
our sweet baby parks turns one month old today and i am still having a hard time wrapping my head around this fact. when people tell you that time flies by, they’re most definitely not kidding. it seems like just yesterday they handed him over to me after my c-section in the recovery room as he cried and the second he hit my chest… he stopped. or when they brought him to my actual hospital room for the first time {after a few hours in the nicu/his first bath} and the nurses told me to lift up his little hat – only to see tons of soft black hair everywhere. or when we brought him home with us.
this past month has been so beautiful having my mom here- we bonded in the most special way and she did so.much. our house is clean, organized, and baby parks loved spending time with her {as did we}. although there were challenging parts with my recovery, it was by far my favorite month of my life. sure there’s less time for blogging, reading, sleeping, and doing my hair, but i am so smitten with him, none of that matters. i will happily do my old activities less {and rock a messy bun on the top of my head} to spend just a little more time with parks. today i plan to snuggle him and watch downton abbey {so good!} with mr. monaco all day. my dad, sister, and mom left this morning for ohio {i wanted to pack up our house and go with them} but i know we will see them soon. they. are. so. amazing. we had the best time this weekend around charlotte {hoping to share snapshots soon!}
my baby boy- nine days old
he’s been the best babe. parks sleeps sometimes seven-nine hours a night… while only waking up once or twice to eat. he usually goes right back to sleep and hardly ever cries. i have watched a lot of precious babies throughout my life to know that we are very lucky.
i will know his stats on wednesday after our one month appointment; however, i definitely think he’s gaining weight {and tiny rolls on his thighs!!} he is currently wearing 0-3 month clothing; however, a few 3-6 months clothes fit as well. newborn clothes and diapers never fit our big boy!
an announcement photo i put together at his new newborn photo session
absolutely can’t wait to share the rest of them with you soon
we will treasure them forever, kinston photography
he loves: being warm, snuggling, reading books, singing with mimi, riding in his mama roo, sleeping in his rock n’ play, cuddling up in the solly baby wrap, wearing his cozy zutano booties {thank you rachel of little blue sailboat}, his bink, sleeping, being swaddled in his blankets & beyond swaddles, pandora/when we sing to him, traveling and exploring charlotte in his carseat and stroller {he never makes a peep}, and lots and lots of milk. {and not to brag but i think he really loves his mama!}
i have been longing to wear him
but couldn’t with my incision
my sister helped me use our solly wrap for the first time last night
and he LOVED it.
parks slept so soundly on me while we played games together
baby wrapping is something i feel strongly about and was so happy to finally be able to!
he doesn’t like: being cold, getting a bath, initially going in his carseat, sometimes getting his diaper changed, tummy time
see… he doesn’t like any little bit of being cold.
{basically he doesn’t like to be naked- i think he’s a little shy/private!}
we love our monthly milestone blanket from batzkids
we love our sweet baby more than i ever thought a human could love. so very much.
i love seeing his little personality develop lately, but it’s also bittersweet. the newborn phase was everything i ever imagined and so much more. i loved it so much. so thankful to be his mom and looking forward to every part of this journey.
to see more of parks be sure to follow me on instagram
wishing you a wonderful day and week!

So beautiful and how time flies is something I contemplate over and over in my own mind. As much as I am so eager to greet my little guy, there’s a small part of me that says “while he’s in your tummy he’s still your baby”…because once he’s born he’ll grow and change. It’s a beautiful thing, but even as the months go by I’m sure it’s hard to wrap your mind around how much Parks is growing 🙂 I am so awed by the blessings of your family and I always look forward to catching up and seeing how you guys are doing.
Hope your healing is going well! Such a beautiful family you have <3

So happy (and also WAY jealous) for you that he's such a good sleeper! Jack is the same way about hating to be cold/naked..it's adorable. And baby wearing is my favorite thing in the world. Wrapping him up and keeping him so close to me while I go about the day…nothing better.

AH! I love your blog… this blanket is seriously the cutest. I've seen many people share the month milestones in a creative way and while each of them are adorable, the blanket is my favorite. What a find! I'm so happy he's been a pretty good sleeper for you guys & that you were able to hold him/wear him in that way. Precious!
