ten valentine’s day date ideas

1. do appetizers and a local wine tasting {whole foods often has free tastings!}
2. drive-in theatre: bring pillows, a blanket and some of your favorite snacks!
3. m&m bowling: a simple bag of m&m’s can take your bowling game up a notch! before you a turn, pick out a piece of candy and then check the “color code key” to see how you should bowl that round based on the color. you can create your own code like “blue= granny style,” red= non-dominant hand,” “green= backwards,” etc. to make it valentine’s day themed, you could create a code to correspond like for every strike, kiss your date and for every spare, hug your date!
4. breakfast in bed: surprise your love with their favorite breakfast before they wake
5. take in lunch and a free concert: find a free concert in your area {community colleges and community centers are the perfect place to look for these} and grab lunch before at a small diner or bistro – like a soup and salad combo.
6. a home movie night: grab a redbox rental and dollar store snacks. you can even get microwave popcorn and your favorite snacks there. turn off the lights, gather your snacks, and let the movie play.
7. barnes & noble date: enjoy checking out the books, and taking peeks at the new releases. sit in the overstuffed chairs and grab a coffee/dessert while you chat/read.
8. a play/dessert: find a local production and enjoy desserts afterward
9. create a scavenger hunt around your town/city
10. create your own pizzas: we love to buy the dough and sauce at trader joe’s and make different pizzas with our favorite ingredients {super cheap and even better than delivery!}

my special valentine this year!
what are your plans?

best date you have ever gone on?

    All of these ideas are great for avoiding the typical Valentine's Day crowds! My mom is visiting through Sunday this weekend and is dying to babysit Max, so the hubs and I are celebrating V-day on Saturday with the traditional nice dinner out. Hopefully we won't be fighting for a table!

    I love TJ's pizza dough. I'm thankful to be married to someone who actually enjoys celebrating special occasions. Especially growing up in the midwest when February is a bit of a slog to get through it's nice to have something to look forward to!
