twenty questions

karli at september farm and rachel at little blue sailboat did a 20 questions post the other day… i thought i would join so that you can learn a little bit more about the girl behind this blog.
  1. favorite food? i am a huge foodie and love almost every type of food … but mexican is at the top. it’s my all time favorite- guacamole and chimichangas every day, please.
  2. high heels or flip flops? can boots be an option? i don’t wear much of the other two, but do like both for different reasons {depending on the occasion!} speaking of boots, these are on my wishlist {in black} i buy a lot of brown shoes – so trying to add some black to my closet.
  3. favorite places to shop…for myself? anthropologie {it’s an experience for me} i love the clothes {hello, sale room!!} home decor, the smell of volcano candles, make-up and the window displays. it’s a tradition for my mom, sister and i to browse around for an extended amount of time and i love it.
4. standard coffee order? i am a black coffee lover. however, when it comes to lattes– cinnamon, pumpkin, hazelnut, and lavender with skim milk/almond milk are also favorites.
5. must-have road-trip snack? hot tamales {it’s a special tradition for my husband and i} along with sour patch kids, peanut butter cups… and a stream of coffee.
6. diy or hire it out? i love to diy but wish mr. monaco and i were a bit more handy {good thing my dad comes to visit!!} i am all about finding cheaper/more economically reasonable ways to conquer home projects though- even if it takes more time to accomplish
7. top 5 TV shows? dateline, forty-eight hours, cedar cove, big love and parenthood {absolute fav.}
8. favorite book? the list is endless. some of my loves include the seven levels of intimacy {so amazing.} pride and prejudice, the glass castle, orphan train, unbroken, the rhythm of life, and the shoemaker’s wife
9. favorite form of exercise? hot yoga- without a doubt. this practice completely changed almost every aspect of my life.
10. how tall are you?  5′ 7″
11. do you try something new at restaurants or stick to your favorites? no question, try new. i love to explore new places/food and am not picky at all- so thankful for this part of my life. i love to experience new flavors and love, love, love food. it’s an experience for my family and i- we like to enjoy long dinners {almost always appetizers} and all love to try new things.
12. one makeup item you can’t live without? lipstick – all about some bold, fun, and vibrant lips
13. what’s on your nightstand? a lamp, my glasses, vitamins, coconut oil, a wood necklace, a ring holder, current book, ipad, and a photo of my grandma, aunt, godfather, and i when i was about one
14. one thing motherhood has taught you? i am currently a little over halfway pregnant with our first baby and although i haven’t met our son, the love i feel is unlike any love i have ever felt before.

15. music that reminds you of high school? if there was ever a time in my life when music was present, it was then. we constantly had music blaring in our cars as we drove around back roads all.day.long/had bonfires at night. {there isn’t much to do in a two stoplight town but we made lots of fun.} john mellenkamp, dr. dre, lots of old/new country, nelly, 70’s music
16. if you could live anywhere in the world other than your current city, where would it be? i would absolutely love to move abroad to europe for a year or two {traveling as much as possible- how cool would that be for our kids?!} and then if my family wasn’t so far, i truly think the west coast is somewhere i would adore living. {esp. portland- i have heard that’s my city/the facebook test also told me so- ha} but the beauty and laid back atmosphere is definitely intriguing to me.
17. something about you we might not know? i am not really a dog or a phone person {i feel like these are both unusual!} i hardly ever wear pants {dresses/skirts are my jam} and i blog in lower case letters because of my love for e.e. cummings {i carry your heart was read at both our wedding/my sister’s} and honestly, i think lower case letters are really cute.
18. websites you read/browse besides blogs? i read a lot of blogs. but other than that, probably pinterest, anthropologie, real simple, naturally danny seo
19. morning person or night owl? night owl. however, over the past few years, i have been getting up a lot earlier and do enjoy the mornings so much more.
20. what’s your best feature? i think my blue eyes are my favorite feature. just two weeks ago, after almost nineteen years with blue tinted contacts on my baby blues, i decided to go natural again.
i sent this photo to my sister last week
a ‘miss and love you’ photo
{and a can she tell my eyes are different?}
and she noticed right away!
there are a few more days left to enter my current giveaway
{esp. if you are a book/coffee lover}

    I can get lost in your blog's photography. I love it! And it is very interesting to finally know why you write in lower case. I always wondered.

    I so enjoyed reading this! I haven't experienced the thrill of hot yoga yet – I'd love to hear more about it! You definitely have lovely eyes. And I'd enjoy bonding with you over a latte and hot tamales! 🙂

    I've never heard of a lavender latte but now i'm on a mission!! There's a new cafe in the historic/downtown area of our town that I haven't been to yet. I think i'll check them out to see if they have anything like this. I absolutely adore your lowercase and font of the blog. I think it's why I fell in love with your blog from the beginning. It stood out and made me swoon (still does). Hot yoga sounds amazing, too! I love yoga so why not hot yoga?! I just added another thing to my bucket list! Oh, how I wish we had an anthropolgie closer to us but my wallet is glad we don't 😉 And motherhood is the most amazing job/journey you'll ever have. There is definitely no love in the world like it!
