a home tour: willow’s little details
today i am excited to connect with kiki at in its time for the september ‘the circle’ link-up. home is a special word for me and is something very near and dear to my heart. i feel like your home should be a place where you feel safe, serene, comfortable, and inspired. i love to spend hours ‘treasure hunting’ for the perfect pieces; pieces that fit us and our lifestyle. last fall we built a home about five minutes from uptown charlotte and we adore it. it was a fun and easy process {besides moving in six days before christmas!} but in the end, it was the perfect decision for us and it is slowly becoming ‘home.’ over labor day, we traveled to lake lure to visit with my parents and really good family friends, lynn and jerry {i have known the couple my whole life and love their love for life!!} my mom, lynn, and i had a heart to heart over coffee that monday morning and so many things they said stood out to me … lynn mentioned the importance of a home and how everyone’s is different and how that’s good- it should be that way. how boring would it be if they were all the same? and as long as you feel like it’s you- go with it and be proud of it. decorate so that your home feels like it’s your oasis. ours is a work in progress {we have a lot of plans for the walls, lighting, furniture, loft, etc.- and most exciting… the soon-to-be nursery!!} i would love to share room by room posts soon, but today i decided to share some current decor touches. we named our home, willow, and we love it … so much.
the guest bedroom headboard- from world market
a photo from the day we signed – december 15, 2014 – a blank slate.
we walked in with a white/real christmas tree, a carton of target wine, and our jambox
and decorated the christmas tree 🙂
we have since painted the walls a light gray
the main color scheme is gray and white- with pops of color throughout
i am loving scandinavian designs these days – loving.
cannot get enough of this rug from ikea
vintage white hobnail/milk glass vases are a passion of mine
i love patterns and textures but have moved past my love for burlap and chevron since buying this chair … but for now, it’s in our study <3
also, darling magazine is something i treat myself to- if you haven’t checked it out- i would!!
-our breakfast area-
it has an ivory table, a gray velvet bench, two french bistro chairs, and a chandelier above
little mr. monaco – such a sweetheart even then
i created a mail area and coffee bar in the breakfast nook
-our mudroom-
i want to find a cute patterned paper for the cubbies
part of the entrance way
books are scattered throughout our home
-the study-
this little yellow desk in our study is one of my favorite items in willow
and the french doors… they’re so beautiful to me.
small gray bookcase in a nook in our room
more details coming soon
hope you enjoyed a glance into our home
…
where is home for you? and what do you love most about your home?
what’s your style?
ps: here is a tour of our first home after we got married- a little yellow bungalow

thank you so much! my cousin painted that portrait of our beloved late cat, pierre {we sadly found him on the train tracks in front of our house last october :(} we are still crushed. he was nine and we loved him so much. she gave it to use on christmas day with a poem on the back and it couldn't be more perfect- it looks exactly like him. we get to look at him every day. xo

Your house is so dreamy, charming, and cozy. I love it! I'm especially loving the headboard from World Market. That's one of my favorite stores ever! And I love french doors inside a home. Super sweet home!
