borrowed words
“Mama, it all matters.
You know what their favourite food,
snacks and ice cream flavours are.
You know how they like their veges and fruit cut
and you make sure nothing touches
anything else on the plate.
You can tell when they are grumpy that they
just need a cuddle, some food or some sleep.
You know their favourite outfit,
the position they sleep in at night,
and how many blankets they prefer.
You know what night light they like on
and their favorite book and song.
You know their friends’ names,
what they’re struggling with
and what they’re excited about.
You know all of this,
even though these decisons change daily
and this takes time.
So at the end of the day when you think –
what did I do today?
I listened, I watched, I played and I planned;
I loved, I organised and
I created a home that my children
feel safe, known, and loved in.
There is nothing more beautiful
or more important than that.”
