first trimester essentials

 welcome back, coffee!
i missed you.
 i tried to limit my caffeine intake during weeks three-fourteen and only had a few…
but excited to enjoy a cup a day {if it sounds good!}

well i made it! last week marked the beginning of the second trimester so i thought i would share some of my first trimester essentials with you! not included are bagels {especially blueberry} and lots of watermelon! here are some things that helped me get through the weeks of nausea and exhaustion!

books | a few friends gave me some books to start reading and i have enjoyed them… i hope to read more this trimester {hello more energy!} and then have been reading tons of blog posts… you all are the best! so much great advice and real life stories.

yoga pants/leggings | i lived in this things … the moment i got home from work and all summer long. i am starting to explore pre-natal yoga classes in charlotte and have found a few on youtube {i will share my favorite channels soon!}

la croix | this was the love of my during weeks three-seven and then it became a food aversion… but it was my favorite thing in the beginning!

water | i am known for my love for water at work, but have been trying to drink even more during pregnancy. good thing i love it! i can definitely tell when i drink enough and when i don’t!

blanket | i would go from really hot to cold in a second so a blanket was always within my reach!

peppermints and preggie pop drops | these two were my absolute favorites! my co-worker bought me the preggie pop drops {they are drug-free and natural} and were life-savers! they taste amazing, too. they are $4.95 at destination maternity for 21 drops. both of these helped to settle my stomach in between meals.

saltines | my sweet co-worker/friend, anna, gave me a ‘pregnancy survival kit’ the first week i was pregnant {i tell her everything.} and it was life-saving at work! esp. the saltines. i would pop a few in between a class change and it did wonders! she included ginger ale, mints, a toothbrush, mouth wash, and crackers. so cute and such a nice gesture for someone you love in your life! they will love it.

smoothies | because food aversions/healthy food weren’t always an option, i tried to get nutrients {fruits/veggies} from smoothies. they were usually refreshing and tasted awesome!

lotion | my skin has been so much softer! yay! but i started putting coconut oil/lotion on my stomach from day one- trying to avoid as many stretch marks as possible {although i know it’s probably inevitable!}

yogi mother to be tea | my co-worker also recommended this to me and gave me a few samples! you can order it on amazon … loved it.

what about you?
what were your first trimester essentials?
although it was rough {most of the time}
…i am so very grateful for the chance…
my heart is so grateful.

 …what is your heart grateful for this week…

hope your weekend went well!

    Yup! Back to the coffee for me too now that I also just finished the first trimester. Looks like we are bump buddies 😉 The other essentials I would add are Arby's and Taco bell. Oh, wait. Just me? 🙂 – Marielle | theResplendent.com

    Congrats on your pregnancy! I used to love my one cup a day coffee but most importantly my saltine crackers! Life savor for me. Leggings were my best friends in both my pregnancies and they still are :).

    I have been totally loving on watermelon this whole pregnancy too! That's so funny! 🙂 And my first trimester had me gulping down smoothies and feeling cold all the time too! Which is interesting because this was the first pregnancy where I was cold all the time (at the beginning), usually I'm hot from the very beginning.

    Burts bees peppermint foot lotion! Once I know I'm pregnant I get nightly foot rubs from the hubby because they are always sore by the end of the day 🙂
    Also Bio Oil. Used that for my dry itchy skin later on as belly started stretching but I got it in my 1st tri to combat stretch marks. Feels so nice and since it's oil it warms up in your hands unlike lotion.
    Oh I also invested in a good bra in the 1st because the girls grew so fast and were sore all the time. Even though I knew size would change later on again , it was important to me that I was as comfortable as possible!

    OH man, I LOVED being pregnant and I miss it so badly! LOL! Our little one is almost eleven months and our baby fever is CRAZY!!! I had a really, really easy pregnancy, but I know these items helped a lot of my mommy friends who struggled a little bit!

    I was the exact same with La Croix! It helped so much at first, and then all of the sudden I couldn't even stomach the thought of it!
