i think we can all agree that this week has been a lot with the election… and then add halloween, parks’ first day at his new elementary school, a baby shower, home renovations/continuing to get settled into our new home, daylight savings, and of course, the pandemic continues… it’s all so much. but i am trying to focus on the small joys every day; the small glimpses of light + magic that fill our days. the other day i was doing some planning in our sunroom (probably my very favorite room- it’s like a treehouse!) when parks walked in and said, “momma- can i take a picture of the sun?” with my polaroid camera in hand. it was so adorable and the view of the sun through the woods in our backyard is always so stunning. so i answered that he could… but then, he said, “momma- can i take a picture of you instead.” he took my photo and then he posed for one of himself- ‘superhero style.’ we both watched as our images started to appear on the film and he was so excited and hugged me- it was just darling. then, when i picked up nash at his preschool, his teacher said, “look, he has something for you in his hand… he insisted on picking this flower for you on our buggy ride/walk around the city and then carried it around for an hour and kept saying it was for you.” i mean… could being a boy mom be any more beautiful.
