nash’s nursery tour

i am so excited to share nash’s finished nursery! we went with a neutral color scheme- with birch wood and greenery and sentimental pieces as accents. i think it gives this little space a simple, calm tone and i am so excited to spend endless amounts of time cuddled up with my new little boy.
my husband and i got started on the nursery pretty slowly. we decided to turn our guest bedroom into the new nursery and kept parks in his room (with a different look / i plan to share his space soon.) because we don’t have basements in charlotte (they are rare because of the red clay soil here) the guest bedroom was our main storage space … so it took awhile to organize, purge and sell/donate all of the things we no longer needed. many winter afternoons were spent prepping the room and then many trips to ikea/putting it all together once spring came around… and i completely smitten with the way it turned out. what i learned: everything takes so much longer than what you expect. however, watching parks ‘help’ his dad build furniture, while i folded tiny white onesies, is something i will always remember- and cherish. we finished his room around the end of may, just in time to enjoy a few weekends together before his arrival. parks used to love to tell me where his brother’s room was and loved to play on the floor and look out the window. his joy and excitement as he ran to the room always touched me – in only a way that a momma feels. i hope you enjoy this nursery tour… i poured my heart and soul into his room.

the changing table was from parks’ nursery and is still one of my favorite pieces in our home. we found it at an antique mall when i was pregnant with parks and it’s the perfect height/vibe for what i had envisioned for each room.
after his bath yesterday
i am all about some hobnail | rein state
vintage baby pieces and dried eucalyptus
the walls are a soft white color | panna cotta / magnolia collection
we decided to put the small bookshelf at a lower level this time/right underneath the window
there is an amazing re-sell group for local moms on facebook and i got this adorable mobile for $10
almost all of the baskets are thrifted
the white sheepskin rug is incredibly soft and i adore the layered look of the two
(and neither one of these rugs sheds- i have learned that this is so important!)
a special ‘thank you’ to my incredibly generous and sweet friend, blair, for allowing us to use her bassinet
these floating shelves are from target
my parents came to visit at the end of may and everything was done except for the art. so
we hung the art together and then i asked them if they wanted to know his name (we kept parks’ name a secret until he was born) … they debated but decided ‘yes!’ … i got out the four wooden blocks and put them on the shelf. they were both so excited and it was truly a special moment; one i will also always remember.
the basket changing pad is one of my favorite things and the ikea utility cart is the perfect organizer (we used this in parks’ nursery as well)
most of the art has meaning: my husband’s late grandma was a painter and painted the beautiful goose/pond painting above the changing table
you are so loved.
the affection i have for this crib has no bounds. i am in love with the look of raw wood and this one is $79 from ikea (and is great quality)
when i walk into this space, i always feel at peace… which is ideally what i aim for most when creating a living space for my boys during these precious early years.
what type of space do you gravitate towards for the little ones in your life?
