on kindness towards others

“when we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes
others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner
happiness and peace.”

—The 14th Dalai Lama

at the end of the day i want to look back on my life and be proud of how i treated other people
i
believe that you will never regret being kind. a very, very good friend
reminded me of this last friday with her kindness- she is always kind to me.
she knows me inside and out; she respects & loves me for who i am. i
always feel completely comfortable
around her. the truth is, i am
proud of the people that i have chosen to surround myself with… that’s
the great part about being an adult- you get to choose. these people
love me lots- and i love them so much. they are kind to my other
friends and welcome all people with open arms- always. …my friendships
are important to me and anyone who truly knows me- knows how much i put
into relationships when i feel accepted {which i should feel- because i
respect myself.} i was reminded this past week that i was lucky
to have grown up with so many amazing people- who have kind souls-
and always love so deeply; who never compromised our friendship for
anything. not time, distance, differences- never envious and always
accepting. what a great gift- possibly life’s greatest gift? for i am so lucky– i have so many of these people in my life
today-
from home, college, and in charlotte.
 a lot has happened over the past few years that has once again proven
this– they were there for me during the most joyous times… and also
during my darkest hours.

 leaving me with a more grateful heart- and a better focus on who truly matters most.

 i recently realized, more than ever, that
my number one focus in this one life

 is my faith in God, my husband, my
family, and my closest friends…

 i would bend over backwards for any of
them and they know this.

i am so blessed and am extremely proud of these incredible people,
who are so close to my heart.

always remember:
“girls compete with each other, women empower each other.’
love your own story, own it, and be proud of it.
never let others question you or your story.
i believe that we were put here for a purpose, and that purpose was to be 100% unique…
 so competing with each other leads to nothing.

lastly, i was also always encouraged to be hospitable to all; to not constantly judge others
{i realize we all judge– but just try to be a nice human!!}

and to never apologize for having a kind heart.
 i plan to always surround myself with people who do the same.
 for life is too short to be anything but loved.

‘we rise by lifting others’

 —robert ingersoll
what do your friendships mean to you?
 {i truly hope you are half as lucky as i am!!}

let go of negative relationships
it feels amazing.
you are worth more

honestly these types of people don’t deserve your love.

Isaiah 55:8-12

For
my thoughts are not your thoughts, nether are your ways my ways,
declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than your way and my
thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from
heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it
bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for
the eater. so is my word that goes our from my mouth it will not return
to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose
for which I sent it. You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the
trees of the field will clap their hands.

    Love love love this post, Nelle! What you said was so true – the great thing about adult friendships is that we get to choose. We know ourselves so well by this point, that we quickly recognize the kind of people who will meet us where we are and who we know we'll connect with best. There are a few benefits to being a 'grown-up' 😉 I am so very thankful for the friends in my life!

      yes- you are so correct! it's all about spending time with genuine people- who inspire us and don't bring us down! I think it's so important and life's just too short to not follow our heart. I'm so thankful, too! thanks for the sweet words! they mean a lot to me! xo
