our first week in our new home
today marks one week in our new home and it’s been exciting and hard and peaceful and tiring and healing. the entire interior has painted white, was deep cleaned, and we did some landscape tidying (lots more to do there!) before moving in- which all felt so wonderful. we both have so many dreams and so maybe things we want to change… but we are trying to just be present and take it all one day at a time… always reminding ourselves that with time- with time, we know that it will be so loved; filled with small, magical moments. sometimes it’s hard to embrace the time gap needed to create. but i can truly see it. and going to sleep to the sound of crickets and watching how the trees dance on the walls and floors as the day’s pass has been nothing short of magical. as a creative, i needed this. i needed the beautiful nature surrounding us (being able to see green from every window is such a dream) and a place to make ours. plus, a new beginning at the beginning of the autumn season; the season that shows the beauty of change is so lovely in itself.
some snapshots of our first week in our new home |
the sunroom might be my very favorite room
we have not had a driveway since having kids- and it’s been SO awesome!!
the boys are loving their new space
can’t you just see a christmas tree in that corner?
-threshold-
hoping to head to a pumpkin farm soon with the boys (something fun and parks loves pumpkins!!) and fill our porch with pumpkins (there is one right by our house- but it’s closed due to covid)
saying goodbye last wednesday morning to our old house
it was so bittersweet.
we also walked over to the brewery across the street from our old neighborhood one last time for pizza and beers and pink lemonades
the kitchen and playroom and bathrooms are almost all unpacked (and that’s about it!)
coffee + oatmeal + listening to the birds every morning
goodbye, dear old friend
this was our home of 5.5 years/loved being under ten minutes from the city (like i had been during all of my time in charlotte) but i absolutely love the country feel surrounding our new home. and driving into the city yesterday to bring nash to school felt so refreshing. it’s still so close. yet, we have so much scenery and quietness to come back to.
helping me pack up (with woody, too)
we all got a cold + sore throat the day after we moved in, which added to it all.
but are all on the mend.
so thankful for this new space; a home to make ours
-with time-
but so loved already.

Looks like you’re already making some wonderful memories in your new home! We have windows on either side of our fireplace too but we are having a hard time picking the right white paint color. Did you paint the walls in your living room? If so, what color?
