the guy behind the blog {volume three}

1 // Has Starbucks ever spelled your name wrong on a cup? If yes, what’s
the craziest way that someone has spelled it?

Mr. Monaco: I am one of those weird ones that don’t drink
coffee. It’s even more weird that I really like the smell of coffee, but
the taste is just too bitter for me. Plus, I think it would be pretty
hard to misspell Tim. 🙂 {Mr. Monaco’s name has been revealed you all! and in my family, we all have a Starbuck’s name- more on this later}
2 // Who would play your wife/fiance/girlfriend in a movie or TV show about your lives?

Mr. Monaco: This is a tough one because it’s hard finding someone who is as sweet as she
is. I would have to say Zooey Deschanel. She would be pretty perfect at “being” Nelle
since she’s sweet, has similar fashion as her, and is really funny.
3 // What is your proudest accomplishment?

Mr. Monaco: One of my proudest accomplishments is building a house with Nelle. We recently (December) signed and we couldn’t
be happier. My favorite part about it is building a life for the both
of us and seeing her happier than ever. We just bought some outdoor
furniture and I could just stand there all day watching her on the back
patio so content with life with a book in one
hand and a coffee in the other. I know this is just the beginning…
4 // What is your favorite holiday and why?

Mr. Monaco: The
given and cliché answer here is Christmas, but a close second is
Independence Day. I am extremely proud to be an American. My dad was in
the Vietnam War and instilled the patriotism into
me and my siblings. My dad and I have gone to DC many times during
Veteran’s Day and I love talking to him
about his experiences in the military (the good and the bad). It’s a big part of my life and am thankful
for all vets and for their service.

// What is your favorite breed of dog?  If you don’t have a favorite
breed, describe the characteristics of your ideal dog (or cat)!

Mr. Monaco: Four
years ago, my answer would have been very different from what it is
now. When I met Nelle, she had a cat (Pierre). I grew up loathing cats
because I was allergic to them. When I found
out that Nelle had a Himalayan cat, we weren’t sure how the relationship was going to work. Somehow, I
was not allergic to him unless his tail brushed across my face, which I made certain wouldn’t
happen often.
Throughout the years, he became my best boy. I loved it when he would
lay on my chest and purr while I was watching t.v. He was such a good
guy. Last October, he decided to go for a little stroll outside (he
was an inside cat) and I found him on the train
tracks. We were crushed. One of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do was to bury Pierre in the backyard.
Luckily, we have such amazing and fond memories of him that keep our hearts warm.

{i obviously bawled when i read this- it’s still so hard- read more about this terrible experience here. it was less than a week before my sister’s wedding and we were already mourning the very difficult death of the best man/my brother-in-law’s amazing brother on 9.15.14- such dark days- during what is supposed to be a joyous time- but so many messages- over 300 for pierre alone- and endless support when imoh passed. this difficult time taught me a lot about friendships- and i am one lucky lady ♥ have you ever lost a special pet- how did you cope?}
{i am really getting into shadow/shoe walking photos lately! anyone else?}

    What a twist from the fun upbeat answers to such a tragic event… I have lost two pets now and I can't say it ever gets any easier. I am so sorry for your little fur baby.

    omg, Nelle! I'm so sad for you guys and your Pierre! I'm so sorry; I cannot imagine. Christian was the same way with cats until he met my Cleo and now they are the best of friends (most days, that is haha). Your Mr. Monaco is SO sweet about you; I can't wait to read the Starbucks names stories! 🙂

      Thank you so much. they way he went was SO hard. A car would've been better/the train was literally right in front of our house and we had to hear it for another two months. So hard. Thank you so much! love Cleo! and love that Christian is similar. Tim and Pierre were best buds. He looked just like the cat on Meet the Parents and was my dream cat/I had him for nine years. On another note, the Starbuck's names – lol. We are weird- yet it's so fun!
