fresh pine, right off of your tree is a great touch 

i had students once (twins) who gave me a note with a piece of their family’s tree

i thought it was the most amazing touch. i actually just saw one of them last saturday at the german christmas market in uptown charlotte (i loved seeing her and hearing her beautiful high school choir sing!) when i walked up to the market, i could smell cinnamon nuts, gluhwein, and heard polka. it reminded me so much of my european adventure ten years ago… those markets are the cutest.
