what’s saving me right now?
we closed/sold our old house a week ago today or ‘the gray house’ as parks call it … and it was stressful. let’s just say… we were VERY easy buyers. it was a lot. so this + on top of buying a new home, moving, unpacking, some not-so-good suprises at our new house, online school, a busy two-year-old, and all the things going on in the world at the moment- made this one of the hardest seasons of my life. september has brought these hard times before- more than any other month it seems- and i am just trying my best to be present and calm and to take it all one day at a time + to remember that the difficult times often lead to the most growith. and i am so thankful for beginnings; a new home we all love already- new rhythms and routines we hope to create soon. i have been so focused on how the boys are adjusting and on our to-do list that i have been taking terrible care of myself… so ready to start focusing on the small joys again.
every sunday, our church does a series called, ‘what’s saving me right now?’ … it’s always so inspirational and full of light (both struggles and hope) … which got me thinking … what are the little things things that are helping me right now:
01. our caring village
02. tiny pumpkins for lending a little fall magic
03. this entire album
04. the way the leaves crunch on our neighborhood walks
05. the canopy of trees above us- all we can see from our backyard are big trees . watching the leaves fall in the morning is simply magical
06. sweet orange in the diffuser
07. autumn and the way the light dances on our walls and floors – i will never get sick of this.
08. buying a new home is scary (especially an older home that needs love) but seeing how much parks and nash love it … has made it easier.
09. a day of boating on the lake with my cousin and her family – a favorite place to be. it was so peaceful and was just what we all needed
10. all the vintage mirrors
11. “momma- our new house is so beautiful. i really, really love it. it’s really good.” … we learned at disney world last winter that “really good” is parks’ greatest compliment
12. starting to read and take baths and paint my nails and eat healthy and curl up in a tidied bedroom when the moon comes out
13. coffee (trader joe’s maple oat milk is so good) + church + billie holiday on sunday mornings
14. a friday afternoon donut run
15. podcasts in the car and strolls through a thrift store
16. all the dance parties while we cook dinner together – takeout was fun for a hot second but loving making meals again
17. a lot seems to change in a week around here (since early august) and trying to pray and dream and remember things pass (and often quickly)
18. episodes of schitt’s creek (love so much!!)
19. starting to set-up our things throughout our home; wanting her to feel our embrace
an article i wanted to share: parenting was never meant to be this isolating
what is saving you right now?
